Yeondo Island

A legendary treasure island where the vast open sea unfolds before your eyes from the grounds of Sorido Lighthouse.

Welcome to Yeondo Island, where land and sea meet as one.

Also known as Sorido Island, Yeondo Island gets its name from its resemblance to a black kite swooping down to catch its prey.
The island boasts remarkable natural rock formations resembling animals and other objects.

Elephant Rock, Seal Rock, the Snake Head Rock at Haneuldam, and Nostril Rock at Yeondo Yongdan are among the fascinating formations that never fail to amaze visitors. Sorido Lighthouse, the 21st lighthouse established in Korea, is another highlight of Yeondo Island. The white lighthouse, lush green lawn, and sculpture of a shy-looking woman create a serene and welcoming atmosphere, while the panoramic views from the lighthouse are truly spectacular. The island also features magnificent coastal cliffs sculpted by powerful waves, tides, and ocean currents, along with lush camellia forests. It is part of Dadohaehaesang National Park.

풍경

Wave erosion has created an impressive natural gallery of rock formations along the coastline. The Twin Caves are two separate caves that do not connect underground, with the right-hand cave extending slightly farther inward.

Solpaengigul Cave also has an intriguing story. Legend has it that treasure was hidden inside, prompting a team of explorers to search the cave in hopes of striking it rich. However, their efforts ultimately proved unsuccessful.

Daeryongdan, which resembles a dragon’s head, faces the sea. Soryongdan was named for its resemblance to a dragon’s tail submerged in the water.

Soryongdan and Daeryongdan extend out on either side of the lighthouse.
