Geobukseondaegyo Bridge
A Key Route for Exploring Yeosu
Completed before the 2012 Yeosu World Expo, Geobukseondaegyo Bridge connects downtown Yeosu to Dolsando Island and features spectacular decorative lighting.
Geobukseondaegyo Bridge is a concrete cable-stayed bridge and forms part of a 17 km, four-lane road extending from Udu-ri in Dolsan-eup to Jusam-dong. The road is part of a national highway bypass project.
The bridge has main towers standing 90 m tall, a main span of 230 m, and a total length of 744 m. Together with a 490 m tunnel and 706 m of connecting roads, the section extends 1.94 km. Classified as a Class 1 bridge, it is designed to accommodate vehicles weighing up to 43.2 metric tons.
Hamel Lighthouse, the Hamel Museum, and Yeosu Marine Park are located beneath Geobukseondaegyo Bridge. The bridge also offers beautiful daytime and nighttime views from Jasan Park, Goso-dong Angel Mural Village, and the Yeosu Cable Car.
Geobukseondaegyo Bridge is also known as the Second Dolsandaegyo Bridge. By connecting Dolsan to the mainland, the bridge has shortened the distance between Dolsan and attractions such as Expo Ocean Park and Odongdo Island. Its opening has also eased the weekend traffic congestion that Dolsan once experienced due to its limited access routes. Residents of Dolsan can now travel to areas outside the city without passing through downtown Yeosu, making transportation more convenient. Tourists also have easier access to major attractions in Dolsan, including Dolsan Park, Yeosu Cable Car, Bangjukpo Beach, and Hyangiram Hermitage.

Geobukseondaegyo Bridge is surrounded by many of Yeosu’s major tourist attractions, making it an important route for exploring the city. On the mainland side of the bridge are Odongdo Island, Aqua Planet Yeosu, Expo Ocean Park, which hosted the 2012 Yeosu World Expo, Yeosu Marine Park, known for its beautiful nighttime scenery, Yi Sun-sin Square, Goso-dong Angel Mural Village, Jinnamgwan Hall, Seo Market, Jungang-dong Dawn Market, and seafood markets where visitors can enjoy fresh hoe (raw fish) at affordable prices. The Yeosu Cable Car, which connects Dolsan Park and Jasan Park, passes right beside the bridge, creating a spectacular sight.
Geobukseondaegyo Bridge offers two distinct views from either side. On one side, visitors can see Yeosu Marine Park, the bustling old downtown area, and a harbor filled with fishing boats. On the other, large merchant ships anchored in the middle of the vast South Sea create a unique scene. On clear days, Namhae-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do can also be seen across the sea.
