Yeosu is the town of patriotic loyalty that richly contains the spirit of the admiral Yi Sun Shin who overcame the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 and our ancestors who followed him. Yeosu became the current city after the unification through the proposal by citizens of Yeosu-si, Yeocheon-si and Yeocheon gun on April 1, 1998.
